Pink Snapper
Pink Snapper in Shark Bay’s three inner gulfs don’t interbreed with each other or the wider-ranging oceanic population. The inner gulf pink snapper stocks are small compared with the oceanic stock and stocks elsewhere in Australia and in New Zealand. Being small and reproductively isolated makes these inner gulf stocks particularly vulnerable to over fishing.
For this reason, special fishing rules apply. Rules can be found here or alternatively for the most up to date information be sure to download the Recfishwest App in your preferred format.
Steep Point
Fishing at Steep Point requires anglers to be fully self-sufficient and bookings are needed to secure a spot, such is its popularity. The whole area of Edel Land is 4WD only. Fishing at Steep Point is also a dangerous activity with high cliffs and big swell proving problematic for fishers. Please contact the Shark Bay Ranger for advice on safety on 089948 3993
